PIAS & MRP gov projects

The government is committed to eradicating poor families poverty from 15 per cent to 2.8 per cent and hardcore poverty to 1.2 per cent by year 2020.
Director General of Implementation Co-ordinator Unit, ICU in the Prime Minister Department, Tan Sri Khalid Ramli says towards this, more than 100-thousand projects had been implemented for rural areas nationwide with totalling 2.6 billion ringgit funds under the Basic Infrastructure Projects (PIAS) and Minor Rural Project (MRP).
Tan Sri Khalid was speaking at the Basic Infrastructure Projects Appreciation for three villages (Kampung Tiris, Kampung Pejuang Kelulit and Kampung Kuala Sibuti) held at Kampung Kuala Sibuti Community Hall, Sibuti today.
He said this inline with the Prime Minister has called on Malaysians to spread the feeling of low self-esteem to the community which would then find itself unable to progress cause of lag behind on the basic infrastructure facilities.
Adds that eventually, the community would descend into poverty because it would not have the self-confidence to strive to improve life.
He said more changes and development needed to be implemented in the rural areas to improve the standard of living. At the same time, they should stay solidly behind the government if they want to enjoy continuous development in their areas.
Tan Sri Khalid also reminded contractors to complete the people’s projects on schedule as if not, depriving the people of the facilities provided by the government for them when there was a delay or projects not being carried out properly.


..KHALID/PIAS PROJECTS (2)

A total of 18 federal funded projects with cost of estimated 5.7 million ringgit have been implemented for the State Assembly N.61 Bekenu Constituency under the 2005-2007 Basic Infrastructure Projects (PIAS).

Director General of the Implementation Co-ordinators Unit, ICU in the Prime Minister Department, Tan Sri Khalid Ramli says the PIAS projects were mostly involve the upgrading road projects to three villages namely, Kampung Tiris, Kampung Kelulit and Kampung Kuala Sibuti.

Tan Sri Khalid said this at the Basic Infrastructure Projects Appreciation for Bekenu Constituency in Kampung Tiris, Sibuti today.
He said of the amount about 2 million ringgit funds for build three bridges and upgrading road projects at Kampung Tiris and the remaining amount for various basic infrastructure projects implemented in Kampung Kelulit and Kampung Kuala Sibuti.

Tan Sri Khalid said the government will continue to give priority to infrastructure development in nationwide especially road projects in rural areas so that the people's could involve in business opportunities and easily market their products to the urban.
Earlier, the State Assemblywoman for Bekenu, Puan Rosey Yunus urged the people's in Sibuti/Bekenu to make full use of the roads to their villages as Sibuti had many attractions including beautiful beaches, rivers and fruits as well as cultural heritage that could be marketed and developed to boost tourism.
Also present, Sarawak State Development Director, Encik Kamal Hussin, Pulau Pinang State Development Director, Encik Nik Ali and Resident Miri, Encik Ose Murang.
