The expectation of the public service needs quality as a foundation in every undertaking, symbiotic relationship between civil service, public and private sector.
The Sarawak Deputy Secretary, Datu' Abdul Ghafur Shariff says the State government expected the civil service to adapt to the increasing demands and contributions of the private sector towards the State’s progress.
Datu' Abdul Ghafur was speaking at the Miri City Council Quality Week held at one of leading hotel in Miri today.
He said the government has to spearhead changes to bring greater prosperity on the civil service so that Sarawak’s continued progress and must strive to maintain competitive both internationally and locally.
Datu' Abdul Ghafur also stressed that continuous efforts must be done to enhance and strengthen Sarawak social and economic policies, budgetary discipline, prudent and conservative financial management as well as all political stability and unity in multiracial the State.

Civil service must rise to the challenges of continuously upgrading and updating its machinery in efforts to enhance a skillfull and knowledgeable workforce in the State’s.
Speaking at the officiating of Miri City Council, MCC Quality Week, the State Deputy Secretary, Datu' Abdul Ghafur Shariff urged civil service particularly local authorities to be more receptive mind and less bureaucracy so that the government agenda and policies would be delivered speedily to the people's.
He believed with such changes among civil service, it would be able to produce more highly quality human capital in future.
Datu' Abdul Ghafur reiterated that towards this, the culture of the people to embrace changes must be seriously taken into account in developing the State.
Earlier, the Acting of Assistant Senior Secretary MCC, Encik Mohd Johari Ibrahim said by the ends of this year, MCC will successfull collected more than 48-million ringgit taxes from the assessment rate under its jurisdiction.
He said the good response from the tax payers in Miri is due of the introduction payment via credit cards including payment in other banking and the roadshow, 'opened-counter' conducted at any shopping complexs in the city.
