the price hike of vegetables in Sibu since 23/8/2010 between RM1 and RM2

The price hike of vegetables in Sibu between one-ringgit to two-ringgit was unavoidable due to the damage of about 100 acres vegetable farms, the largest vegetable producer at Sungai Bidut by the floods. More than 100 vegetable farmers in Sungai Bidut area are affected by the recent floods with an estimated loss of 300-thousand ringgit. The farms were submerged between 0.5 meter and one meter for three days. Chairman of Sibu Vegetable Planters Association, Encik Kong Hock Huong appealed to the government to assist them, and assured that the price hike will only within one and a half month to two months and the price will back to normal.
